1. Won by their conduct
“It suggest the scrutiny of an eyewitness, and implies information from close and minute observation.” (Guy N. Woods)
My earliest memories are of your loving care,
You taught me that God loves me,
You taught me my first prayer.
You made our home a happy place,
A place of peace and love;
Where we could sense this presence
Of blessings from above.
The loving words you so often said,
Are jewels strung on silken thread,
Jewels so lustrous and rich and rare,
They’re locked in my heart and treasured there.
I miss you Mama…
I love you so good!
You taught me that God loves me,
You taught me my first prayer.
You made our home a happy place,
A place of peace and love;
Where we could sense this presence
Of blessings from above.
The loving words you so often said,
Are jewels strung on silken thread,
Jewels so lustrous and rich and rare,
They’re locked in my heart and treasured there.
I miss you Mama…
I love you so good!
2. Adorn yourselves
“When all is said, it is the mother, and the mother only, who is a better citizen than the soldier who fights for this country. The mother is the one supreme asset of the national life. She is more important, by far, than the successful statesman, or businessman, or artist, or scientist.” (Theodore Roosevelt)
3. Give honor
If you have a smile for Mother,
Give it now.
If you have a kindly word,
Speak it now.
She’ll not need it when the angels
Greet her at the golden gate.
Give the smiles while she’s living,
If you wait ‘twill be too late.
If you have a flower for Mother,
Pluck it now.
Place it gently upon her bosom,
Print a kiss upon her brow.
What cares she when life is over,
For the flowers that bloom below?
She will have her share up yonder,
Scattered at her feet galore.
Give it now.
If you have a kindly word,
Speak it now.
She’ll not need it when the angels
Greet her at the golden gate.
Give the smiles while she’s living,
If you wait ‘twill be too late.
If you have a flower for Mother,
Pluck it now.
Place it gently upon her bosom,
Print a kiss upon her brow.
What cares she when life is over,
For the flowers that bloom below?
She will have her share up yonder,
Scattered at her feet galore.
