Asking For A Friend

Asking For A Friend

Sometimes we have big questions about life and faith and no one to ask or we are just too embarrassed to ask them out loud. In this series, we will talk about some of those questions that “your friend” might be posing to you. Each question we address is a question that has been asked by one or several people in our own congregation. We will also select one question from those submitted during this series. We will address that question the final week of the series.

“Why?”
The “why” question always involves pain, suffering, and evil.
“Why is there evil in the world?”
The creators of evil are you and me.
Moral evil is the evil of making a choice that is selfish, arrogant, uncaring, or abusive.
Mankind created evil and perpetuates suffering.
Supernatural evil is the evil that is influenced on mankind from unseen forces.
Natural evil is evil that results from the consequences of man’s sin on the natural world.
God uses the bad to bring about good.
God uses pain to draw us to Jesus.
“God whisper to us in our pleasure. He speaks to us in our conscious. But He shouts to us in our pain. Pain is God’s megaphone to rouse a deaf world.” – C.S. Lewis
Pain will drive you to God or pain will drive you away from God.
God will use pain to help you become more like Jesus.
God will use pain to lovingly discipline us to protect us.
The evil that is intended to hurt you God intends to use for His purpose and your good.
A day is coming when suffering will cease and evil will be judged.
Suffering is temporary.
Suffering is not an indicator of divine abandonment.
Suffering is a reminder of what Jesus did for us.
God is using it all for His glory and the good of those who live their lives for them.

Eagerly await
Decide where the path of pain in your life is going to take you.
