Pride is a serious sin. It is the sin that Lucifer fell into and made him fall like lightning and be cast out of Heaven. Pride is at the root of most sin.

We want things to be for us and all about us, but we must realize that it’s not about us, it’s about God and we were created to worship God and have a relationship with Him.

When we try to take praise that should be for God and take it for ourselves, watch out, the sin of pride is taking over.

Today, we need to be like the early church. If Christ-followers today will come together and put their races, upbringings, political views, income levels, educational accolades, and other differences aside, we could reach the world and our neighbors for the kingdom of God and our churches would look more like Heaven!

We should never exclude people or treat them differently because they don’t look like us or sound like us. We are all created in God’s image and when we treat His people in an unloving way, we are giving in to the sin of prejudice.

The more we understand the gospel and embrace God’s vision for the body of Christ, the more we will begin to appreciate and understand the differences God has given us but not allow them to divide us. – Life Application Study Bible notes on Acts 13

Notice how God spoke to them:
While they were worshipping
While they were fasting
Through the Holy Spirit

Notice how they responded:
After they had fasted and prayed
They placed their hands on them and sent them off
They obeyed God immediately by setting them apart for the work God called them to do!


Are we obedient to what God has called us to do?

Are we walking with and following the guidance of the Holy Spirit?

If you were given a name based on what you do or associated with how you act, what name would you be given?

What name do you think God wants you to have that would represent what He has called you to do?

Are you seeking wisdom through psychics, mediums, tarot cards, or astrology?

All these things are forbidden by God and are tools of the enemy whether you or the person using them realize it or not.

We open ourselves up to spiritual oppression and open negative spiritual doors when we use these things. Stay far away from these types of fortune-telling devices and hold tight to the only source of spiritual truth, Jesus!

Remember how God answers prayers when we pray, worship and fast.

Be ready to respond to the Holy Spirit’s calling when He answers us and calls us to move forward in bold ways for Him

If you aren’t hearing from God, ask yourself if you are listening intently, are you worshipping Him, and are you fasting?
