In this passage of God’s Word, we see Judas starting the process of betraying Jesus. By taking a look at this short passage, we can learn where Judas started to go in the wrong direction, so we can safeguard ourselves from making the similar mistakes. In order to safeguard ourselves against temptation we need to realize:

1. The enemy is real
Luke 22:3, 1 Pet. 5:8-11, 1 Cor. 11:12-15, Rev. 12:9

2. Temptations are always lurking
Luke 22:4-5, Eph. 4:27, 6:10-20, James 1:14, 4:7, Heb. 2:18

3. Sin is always a choice
Luke 22:6, 40, Rom. 12:1-2, 1 Cor. 10:13, 15:33, 1 John 1:9
Reflection Questions

1. Had you ever heard this taught before? What stood out to you?

2. This part of God’s Word makes it clear that the enemy is real. What in your life would change if you recognized that the enemy is real, and it out for you (see 1 Pet. 5:8)?

3. As we talked about, there are always temptations around us; even Jesus Himself was tempted. What specific temptations are constantly around you? Is there any way to limit get those temptations out of your life? If not, how are you safeguarding yourself from these temptations?

4. Sin is always a choice. We never have to sin. Sin always separates us from God. We can never sin for a good reason. Have you ever made the excuse of, “I had to sin” or “I’m sinning for a good reason?” If so, what was the sin? Why do you think you made that excuse?

5. What is your biggest take away about how this passage affects your life? What do you need to work on? Who can you share this with and ask you to keep you accountable to accomplishing this?

Groups

We believe that our faith grows best when we surround ourselves with other believers. That’s why we encourage everyone to be a part of one of our groups, where we can intentionally share our lives with one another. There is a Sunday School group meeting on Sunday mornings before Service at 9:30. Our small groups are also in the process of starting for the fall. If you would like to be a part of one, please reach out to Pastor Josh.

Workday on May 14th

We are planning to have a workday on May 14th from 9am-noon. If you are willing and able to help we would appreciate it! We are planning on cleaning the inside of the building, cleaning up the yard/landscaping, and have several other projects to complete. If you are able to help, please RSVP with pastor Josh, so that he can plan accordingly.
