Introduction

Luke 13:10-22

So What?!
Am I:
#1. Life Giving?

“…you are freed from your sickness.”
#2. Practical Blessing?

“…He laid His hands on her;”
#3. Kingdom Sowing?

“…a mustard seed…”
#4. Growth Infusing?

“…like leaven,”

Religious rules creates rejects, while relationship recruits friends.

“Let my heart be broken by the things
that break the heart of God.”

Robert Pierce, Founder and President of World Vision,
1950-1967
Jesus the Philosopher: Answers for Life
Luke 13:10-22, April 7 & 10, 2022

Prayer Requests:

Group Discussion: Recall a time when someone came to your aid through some practical help; yard work, meals, car repair, babysitting etc. How did that build your friendship?

Read out loud: Luke 13:10-22,

Am I:

#1. Life Giving? “…you are freed from your sickness.” People who had sicknesses or disabilities were always glad to see Jesus because they hoped He would heal them. Who do you know who enters a room and people are always glad to see them? Why? Who in the past has been an encourager to you? Who are you encouraging?

#2. Practical Blessing? “…He laid His hands on her;” One of the common mottos for religious service organization is, “Hands and Feet.” Being Jesus toward others is being a Good Samaritan. If you could spend one day a year doing something practical on Earth for God that couldn’t fail what would it be (stay away from vague simple answers like: world peace!)?

#3. Kingdom Sowing? “…a mustard seed…” Have you ever done something small and had someone respond with overwhelming thanks? Do you participate in being an unofficial greeter at GateWay? Simply saying, “good morning,” to people can touch the heart of a hurting person. Have you met someone you didn’t know simply by saying, “good morning?”

#4. Growth Infusing? “…like leaven,” Since accepting Christ what has been the largest area of growth for you: knowledge of Scripture, personal relationships, prayer, sharing your faith, serving in ministry or worship? Do you agree or disagree with the following statement and why: Religious rules creates rejects, while relationship recruits friends.

“Let my heart be broken by the things that break the heart of God.” Robert Pierce, Founder and President of World Vision, 1950-1967, what do you think of Bob’s story?

Family Time: Buy a packet of seeds. Read Luke 13:18-19 and talk to your kids about how something can start so small and then grow and grow. Plant the seeds in your yard, a pot, or a styrofoam cup and encourage them to water them and watch God’s miracle of growth.
