The Convicting Challenge of Jesus
There are some good things we do in our own strength, but they have little eternal value.
Revelation 3:15-16 CSB
Jesus is saying two things to this church:
1. Be a gospel witness
2. Live out the love and healing of Jesus
Jesus’ teaching is not about Christians showing spiritual passion or emotion, it is about churches (Christians) failing to obey what God calls His people to do in the world today.

The Spiritual Danger of Laodicea

Self-sufficiency is always opposed to a radical commitment to Jesus.
Have we become way too comfortable in our lives on earth… that we live as if we have no need of God?
If we are not spending time with Jesus and dependent on Jesus so that His life flows out of us, we may, in spiritual reality, be good for nothing.
The Gospel Love and Care of Jesus
Revelation 3:19 CSB
Jesus loves us too much to let us waste our lives.
Jesus calls us to be zealous and repent.
People who became self-sufficient and left Jesus out of their lives are told by Jesus that He will sit with them on His throne.
