As we move closer and closer to Holy Week we see momentum building in Mark’s Gospel. In the readings this week we read of a multitude of conflicts. We read the lessons of the fig tree, the wicked tenants, questions about taxes, the resurrection, the “first” commandment, questions of David’s son, the denouncing of the scribes, the widow's offering, destruction of the temple, the foretelling of persecution, the plot to kill Jesus.
