God wants me to take PRAYER seriously
1 Timothy 2:1-15

What do You want from me… in the church?”

1. Don’t forget to PRAY. - I Timothy 2:1-7

Prayer assumes a SUBMISSIVE POSTURE with God.

How are we supposed to pray for our leaders?

- That their leadership would result in A PEACEFUL LIFE for those under their rule. V2
- That they would PERSONALLY EMBRACE the gospel and receive God's salvation. V4
- That they would RECOGNIZE THEIR PLACE under God's sovereign rule. V5-6

2. KEEP YOUR FOCUS ON GOD as a gathered church. - I Timothy 2:8-10

3. Men & Women: EMBRACE THE ROLE God has chosen for you. - I Timothy 2:11-15

Are you ok with God assigning different roles to women and men?

EGALITARIAN: (sounds like “equal”)
- Believes that men and women are 100% equal in God’s eyes and therefore, roles should not be assigned by gender.

COMPLEMENTARIAN: (sounds like “compliment”)
- Men and women work together, functioning in different roles that complement one another.

Men and women are equal in value before God, but they've been given different roles, which have no bearing on value, they simply clarify function.

2 biblical arguments for the complementarian view:

1. Argument from the CREATION ORDER
“I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority
over a man; she must be silent. For Adam was formed
first, then Eve.” v12-13

2. Argument from GOD’S DESIGN
Male & Female are BEAUTIFULLY DIFFERENT from one another.

The Three Members of the Trinity:

Equal in VALUE
Different in FUNCTION & ROLE

One of the unique aspects of man is that men are designed by God to
PROTECT AND PROVIDE.

One of the beautiful aspects of woman is that women are designed by God to NURTURE AND COMFORT.

Prayer assumes a SUBMISSIVE POSTURE with God.

Don’t forget to PRAY.

Keep your FOCUS ON GOD.

EMBRACE THE ROLE God has chosen for you.
