Mark 10:45 NLT
Mark 10:45 NLT
The SERVICE sector makes up nearly 80% of the U. S. economy. The service sector produces intangible goods, in other words, the product is a SERVICE rather than something PHYSICAL.
If the Church as depicted in the New Testament was an economy, it would be a 100% service sector economy.
The founder of the New Testament Church, Jesus, said of Himself, “I came not to be served, but to serve others.” Immediately prior to His final meal, Jesus became the servant of the dinner guests by washing their feet; and, as He finished up, He said, “I have given you an example to follow. '' Do as I have done to you.”

When speaking of the church, Jesus literally said, “I will build my CONGREGATION OF PEOPLE and death will not defeat it.”
Jesus builds His Congregation of People in size and strength as we follow His example and SERVE one another. SERVING is the strength of the church.
In this teaching, you will be challenged to SERVE.
If you are serving, KEEP serving.
If you have stopped serving, commit to re-ENGAGE.
If you have never served, there is no time like NOW to begin.

REFLECT: Do you agree or disagree with the statement: "If the Church as depicted in the New Testament was an economy, it would be a 100% service sector economy.” Explain.
DISCUSSION:
• Read Mark 10:35-45. Do you identify with James and John in their desire for the “place of honor” or the ten who were “indignant” with James and John? Maybe you do NOT identify with either group. Explain your response.
• Read John 13:1-17. Jesus, the Creator of the universe, took the position of a household servant when he washed His disciples feet. He challenged His followers to follow His example of service. How are you following the example of Jesus? Why is it so easy to move from a posture of SERVICE to SERVE-US/ME?
ASSIGNMENT: List some of the “gifts” God has given you from His “great variety of spiritual gifts.” How are you using your gifts well to serve others?
CHALLENGE: If you are serving, KEEP serving.
If you have stopped serving, commit to re-ENGAGE.
If you have never served, there is no time like NOW to begin.
