How do I win the battle of greed?
#1. Admit you’re in the battle. Beware against every form of greed! What’s one thing you hoard? What’s one thing you’ve given up and sacrificed? When you give is it: easy, a joy, difficult, like pulling teeth with no Novocain?
#2. Realize greed is driven by anxiety. And which of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life’s span? 26 If then you cannot do even a very little thing, why do you worry about other matters? What creates more stress in your life: inflation, the decline of the stock market or spending too much money? What’s one strategy you use to reduce your anxiety over finances?
#3. Activate from belief to behavior. Seek His kingdom…Sell your possessions, Make money belts that do not wear out. What could you do to contribute more to the Kingdom? Could you: clean out your closet or garage and donate to the Hidden Treasures Rescue Mission Store, donate building materials to Habitat for Humanity, or donate time serving a meal at the Rescue Mission? Come up with a couple of ideas for how you could activate your faith from belief to behavior.
#4. Memorize Jesus Proverb. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Do you think memorizing scripture has any positive benefit and what are those benefits? What’s the most meaningful verse of scripture you’ve memorized?
Family Time: Read Luke 12:34 and talk with your children about what they are most protective of with their siblings: toys, territory like their bedroom, or time with friends. How does their love for one of those impact their attitude toward the others. How does Jesus want them to adjust their attitude so that they show love toward their brothers/sisters/parents?
