The Perfections of Jesus
Christianity has a long history of being misunderstood, even by Christians! It's all too easy to make it about Jesus PLUS something (good works, moral living, religious activities, emotional experience…). But the book of Hebrews claims that when we add anything to Jesus, we're actually subtracting. It holds up Jesus Christ – fully God, fully human – as the promised Deliverer. He is the One who, alone, saves us from our sinfulness and restores our relationships with God, others, and creation. Its message, the message of Christianity, is really quite simple: Jesus Christ is enough!

Talk It Over
Visit npberean.org/grow-groups for more resources or to connect.
• Treasuring God: How does knowing that Christ was fully tempted and withstood it give you hope? How can we look to Jesus when we are being tempted toward sin?
• Being Transformed: What sins are present in your life that you need Christ’s help with?
• Loving Others: Knowing that Jesus is empathetic with us in our sin struggle, how does that help us be empathetic with others in their sin struggle?
• Pursuing Unity: How can our sin struggles help us walk with those struggling with similar sins in the church? How could we have more of a community mindset with fighting sin?

Next Week's Sermon
Meditation. How do you react to the word? Does it sound evil? Scary? Lonely? Unsettling? Or peaceful? Joyful? Restful? Should a believer meditate? And if so, how? The author of Hebrews challenges us next week to "Consider Jesus," so we'll soak ourselves in truths about Christ as we explore what it means to consider him.
