Luke 18:35-43

In this passage of God’s Word, we see Jesus continuing His Journey towards Jerusalem. As He does, He encounters a blind man crying out to Him. By taking a look at this blind man’s story, we can see what it looks like to have true faith:

1. Don’t let your circumstances hold you back from God
Luke 18:35-38, John 16:33, 1 John 5:4-5, Prov. 3:5-6, 1 Cor. 10:13

2. Don’t let others hold you back from God
Luke 18:39-40, Prov. 14:12, 2 Cor. 12:19, 1 Pet. 5:8, Matt. 10:28

3. Recognize your needs and take them to God
Luke 18:41-42, Phil. 4:6-7, John 15:7, Mark 11:24, James 5:16

4. Glorify God and point everyone towards Him
Luke 18:43, Tit. 2:10, 1 Pet. 3:15-16, John 13:35, 1 Cor. 9:22, Col. 4:6
Reflection Questions

1. There were several things that could have held back the blind man from crying out to Jesus. Has there ever been anything or anyone that has held you back from God? If so, what and why?

2. When you have a need in your life, is your first step to take it to God? Why or why not? If not, what is your first step?

3. On a scale from 1-10, how has your faith been during this season of your life? Why did you rate yourself like that? What has led up to you having that level of faith during this season of your life? What practical step(s) can you take to have a greater faith? Who can keep you accountable to that?

Open Sorting Hour at the Foster Closet

Want to help out at the foster closet but can’t commit to helping regularly? That’s ok! Every Friday from 12:30-1:30 is an open sorting hour. If you’d like to help during the open sorting hour, please text Tammi Fisher at (216) 526-9974.

Groups

We believe that our faith grows best when we surround ourselves with other believers. That’s why we encourage everyone to be a part of one of our groups, where we can intentionally share our lives with one another. There is a Sunday School group meeting on Sunday mornings before Service at 9:30. Our small groups are also in the process of starting for the fall. If you would like to be a part of one, please reach out to Pastor Josh.
