Daniel 7:1-28 ESV
Big Idea:
Stay faithful and do not fear progressive evil empires, because our purposeful, patient and all-powerful God will judge them and give us His eternal Kingdom!
1. Evil human empires PROGRESS over time (Daniel 7:1-8)
a. A lion with eagle's wings - Babylon
b. A bear raised up on one side - Medo-Persia
c. A leopard with wings and four heads - Greece
d. A creature with iron teeth, ten horns and another horn - Rome and Antichrist
i. The man of lawlessness (2 Thessalonians 2:3-4, 8-10)
ii. The "Last Days" are "Already, but Not Yet" (1 John 2:18)
2. The Kingdom of God is PURPOSEFUL (Daniel 7:9-14)
a. The Ancient of Days is on His throne in judgment (7:9-12)
b. The Son of Man has received the Kingdom (7:13-14)
i. His Kingdom is "Already, but Not Yet"
- see Matthew 24:14 and 2 Peter 3:9
3. The King of Kings is PATIENT and ALL-POWERFUL (7:15-28)
a. Despite the evil empires, the saints of the Most High shall receive the Kingdom (7:15-18)
b. The Antichrist will prevail over the saints for a time, but the Ancient of Days will deliver us and give us His Kingdom (7:19-27)
