North Platte Berean Church
Jesus > Angels
Christianity has a long history of being misunderstood, even by Christians! It's all too easy to make it about Jesus PLUS something (good works, moral living, religious activities, emotional experience…). But the book of Hebrews claims that when we add anything to Jesus, we're actually subtracting. It holds up Jesus Christ – fully God, fully human – as the promised Deliverer. He is the One who, alone, saves us from our sinfulness and restores our relationships with God, others, and creation. Its message, the message of Christianity, is really quite simple: Jesus Christ is enough!

Talk It Over
Visit npberean.org/grow-groups for more resources or to connect.
• Treasuring God: What does the text say regarding Jesus’ nature and destiny? How does this truth impact the way we view our current trials or struggles in this world?
• Being Transformed: Hebrews 1:5-14 talks through Jesus’ superiority to even the angels. What is something that you struggle to see Jesus as superior to? (Sin in your life, hard circumstances, the future, etc.)
• Loving Others: The text points out how truly amazing Jesus is. How does this impact our understanding of the greatness of the Gospel? How would this affect the way we share this message with others (by words, actions, etc.)?
• Pursuing Unity: Where can we use this truth to encourage other believers who are struggling? Is there someone you know who may need to be reminded of this truth right now?

Next Week's Sermon
The writer of Hebrews has six very sharp warnings for the Hebrew Christians to whom he's writing. We'll the encounter the first of these warnings next week and explore how he's warning not just them, but us as well.
