The only description found of JESUS in the Bible is in The Revelation chapter 1.

It had been over SIXTY years since John had seen the Lord.

As much as we emphasize the deity of the Lord Jesus we must never forget the HUMANITY of the Lord Jesus.

Jesus loved for the people to know that He was not just God, He was undeniably MAN, the God Man.

A question is sometimes asked: “Who are we going to see in heaven? Is it God the Father, God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?”

We are going to see ONE God. The reason why we’ll not see THREE Gods is because there’s only ONE God.

The Bible is convincing that there is one God and yet three PERSONS make up the one Godhead. There is a TRINITY.

But the person of the Godhead that we’ll SEE is the Lord Jesus Christ.

In today’s teaching we’ll analyze piece by piece the nine descriptions of the Lord Jesus that is a symbolic language which still defines literal and eternal truth about the risen Jesus.

1. He is the COMMANDING Christ

In the Old Testament He is the suffering Jesus.

In the gospels He is the Saving Jesus.

In the Acts He is the Spirit Jesus.

In the Epistles He is the Sanctifying Jesus.

But in The Revelation He is the sovereign Jesus who comes not to save, but to judge.

2. He is the CONSECRATED Christ

Jesus is the only man who never had to CONFESS sin. Jesus forgave sin, but He never had to FORSAKE sin.

3. He is the COMPREHENDING Christ

What we’re being told here is that nothing will be HIDDEN from the Lord Jesus in that day when He returns.

4. He is the CONDEMNING Christ

When the Lord Jesus returns to this earth, He’s got a few things He wants to SAY and we’re all going to LISTEN.

6. He is the CONTROLLING Christ

Jesus has complete control over celestial forces, over spiritual forces, over POLITICAL forces and over FINANCIAL forces.

7. He is the CONQUERING Christ

God’s Word is a weapon that will either convict us to be saved or cut us if we refuse to be saved. But it cuts either way. It will cut to BLESS or cut to BLEED.

8. He is the COMPELLING Christ

The GLORY of Jesus is so brilliant, so bright, so illuminating that we discover at the end of the book that in the New Jerusalem there are no stars that SHINE and no moon or sun.

9. He is the COMFORTING Christ

What the world needs today, what the Church needs today, what God’s people need today is a real VISION of Jesus.

The reason why John had no reason to be afraid and neither do we is because Jesus has “The KEYS of death and the grave.” (v18)

Keys are symbols of POWER and authority. Jesus was saying to John, “I hold authority over death and hell itself and you do NOT have to be AFRAID.”
