Timeline of the Tribulation
1.Ezekiel’s War is likely the last major prophecy that needs to be fulfilled before the Tribulation begins. Ezekiel 38-39
2.The first major event of the Tribulation will be a treaty with a world ruler who will later be identified as the Antichrist.
He will make a firm covenant with many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and offering.Daniel 9:27
When you see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place… then those in Judea must flee to the mountains. Matthew 24:15
3. The Tribulation is a seven-year period that ends with the return of Jesus.
“When I saw him, I fell at his feet like a dead man.” Revelation 1:17a
“The Revelation of Jesus Christ.” Revelation 1:1a
“…to show his servants what must soon take place.”Revelation 1:1c
Since we have now been declared righteous by his blood, we will be saved through him from wrath. Romans 5:9
4. During the Tribulation, God releases judgment through a series of seven seals, seven trumpets, and seven bowls. Revelation 6; 8-11; 15-16.
5. Revelation introduces seven characters who play a part in the drama. Revelation 12-14
(1) The Dragon (Satan). Revelation 12:7-12
(2) The Woman (the Church). Revelation 12:13-17
The woman was given two wings of a great eagle, so that she could fly from the serpent’s presence to her place in the wilderness, where she was nourished for a time, times, and half a time. Revelation 12:14
(3) The Beast from the Sea (Antichrist). Revelation 13:1-10
“…was like a leopard, its feet were like a bear, and its mouth was like a lion’s mouth.” Revelation 13:2
“The dragon gave the beast his power, his throne, and great authority.” Revelation 13:2b
“It was allowed to exercise authority for forty-two months.”
Revelation 13:5b
(4) The Beast from the Earth (the False Prophet). Revelation 13:11-18
“It makes everyone – small and great, rich and poor, free and slave – to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark: the beast’s name or the number of its name.” Revelation 13:16-17
(5) The 144,000. Revelation 14:1-5
“I looked, and there was the Lamb, standing on Mount Zion, and with him were 144,000 who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads.” Revelation 14:1
“They sang a new song before the throne… but no one could learn the song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth.” Revelation 14:3
“These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever he goes…. No lie was found in their mouths, they are blameless.”Revelation 14:4-5
(6) The angelic announcers. Revelation 14:6-11
“Fear God and give him glory...”Revelation 14:7b
“Babylon the Great has fallen.” Revelation 14:8b
“If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives a mark on his forehead or on his hand… he will also drink the wine of God’s wrath…” Revelation 14:9b-10a
(7) The people of the harvest. Revelation 14:15b
“The one seated on the cloud swung his sickle over the earth, and the earth was harvested.” Revelation 14:16
“The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels. Therefore, just as weeds are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age. The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will gather from his kingdom all who cause sin and those guilty of lawlessness. They will throw them into the blazing furnace where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine like the sun in their Father’s kingdom. Let anyone who has ears listen.” Matthew 13:39-43
6. The Battle of Armageddon is both the 6th Trumpet and the 6th Bowl Judgment. Revelation 9:13-21; 16:12-16
“The sixth poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up to prepare the way for the kings from the east.”Revelation 16:12
“They assembled the kings at the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon.”
Revelation 16:16
7. The 7th Seal, 7th Trumpet and 7th Bowl all end with thunder, lightning, earthquake, a trumpet and the return of Christ. Revelation 8:1; 11:15; 16:17
“When he opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about a half an hour. Then I saw the seven angels who stand in the presence of God; seven trumpets were given to them. Another angel, with a golden incense burner, came and stood at the altar. He was given a larger amount of incense to offer with the prayers of all the saints…” Revelation 8:1-3
“The angel took the incense burner, filled it with fire from the altar, and hurled it to the earth; there were peals of thunder, rumblings, flashes of lightning, and an earthquake. And the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared to blow them.”Revelation 8:5-6
“The seventh angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven saying,
The kingdom of the world
Has become the kingdom
Of our Lord and of his Christ
And he will reign forever and ever.”
Revelation 11:15
Then the temple of God in heaven was opened, and the ark of the covenant appeared in his temple. There were flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder, an earthquake, and severe hail.”
Revelation 11:19
“Then the seventh poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple from the throne saying, ‘It is done!’ “There were flashes of lightning, rumblings, and peals of thunder. And a severe earthquake occurred like no other since people have been on the earth, so great was the quake. The great city split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell.” Revelation 16:17-19
“Then I saw heaven opened, and there was a white horse. It’s rider was Faithful and True, and he judges and makes war with justice.
“His eyes were like a fiery flame, and many crowns were on his head. He had a name written that no one knows except himself. He wore a robe dipped in blood, and his name is called the Word of God. The armies that were in heaven followed him on white horses, wearing
pure white linen. A sharp sword came from his mouth, so that he might strike the nations with it.
“And he has a name written on his robe and on his thigh: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.” Revelation 19:11-16
“Then I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies gathered together to wage war against the rider on the horse and against his army. But the beast was taken prisoner, and along with it the false prophet, who had performed signs in its presence. He deceived those who accepted the mark of the beast and those who worshiped its image with these signs.
“Both of them were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur. The rest were killed with the sword that came from the mouth of the rider on the horse, and all the birds ate their fill of their flesh.”
Revelation 19:19-21
