Read out loud: Luke 11:1-28,
#1. The Lord’s prayer is the disciple’s prayer, use it. Thy Kingdom come, is a key phrase of Jesus prayer so do you look forward to Jesus Kingdom coming and why? What is your favorite phrase in the Lord’s prayer and why does it resonate with you? What phrase do you need to improve on when it comes to praying?
#2. The Lord’s parable is the disciple’s power, believe it…how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him? The Bible says we are indwelt by the Holy Spirit when we become a Christian. Paul writes, “For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.” I Cor. 12:13. Notice the usage of the word, “all.” When we accept Jesus the Spirit immerses us, baptizes us, into the Church. How does the Holy Spirit work in your life when it comes to: understanding scripture, relating to others in love, praying the Lord’s prayer?
#3. The Lord’s enemy is the disciple’s enemy, defeat him. He who is not with me is against me… Do you ever internally feel accused by Satan, I’m not good enough, I’m a big hypocrite, I need to be nicer, kinder, more loving? How do you get past those kind of thoughts and feelings?
#4. The Lord’s word is the disciple’s blessing, observe it…blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it. Just as a mother nourishes her infant, Jesus says God’s Word should nourish us and we are blessed if we hear and observe. How is your devotional life? Could you use S.O.A.P. to improve it? Pick a book of the Bible and begin to S.O.A.P. it up today!!!
Family Time: Read 11:28 to your kids and ask them for a verse of scripture that God wants them to observe or obey. You can suggest, John 13:35 love, II Cor. 9:7 give cheerfully, Gal. 6:2 help each other. Whatever verse you pick, discuss how you’ll do it that week.
