Renewal is defined as resuming an activity or state after an interruption, or extending the validity of something, or repairing or updating something in disrepair.
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men (and women) to do nothing. - Edmund Burke
Belief to Trust
After Jesus’ ascension, the disciples were given the opportunity to move from belief to trust. From head knowledge to action. From following along because of signs to moving forward without any. The Wesleyan Renewal Service says it this way, “Christ will be the Savior to all who obey.” and “Christ will be Lord of all or of none.”
23 Just then there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit, 24 and he cried out, “What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are, the Holy One of God.” Mark 1:23–24 (NRSV)
19 You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder. James 2:19 (NRSV)
Belief is thinking, hoping, having a good feeling that the Bengals will win today. Trust is betting your house on it. Trust is dangerous, risky, and demands everything.
