The Bridge Church Mission: We exist to help people find and follow Jesus Christ, here and around the world.
1. The Heart of God: Compassion
· Compassion (Greek splanchnizomai)– a feeling from the gut. Way down deep inside.
· Compassion is empathy in action
· Distressed – “troubled, beaten down, to be made weary”

2. The Harvest: Abundant
3. The Mission: Pray how God could use you in the harvest.
“When we pray as He commanded, we will see what He saw, feel what He felt, and do what He did. God will multiply our lives as we share in the great harvest that is already ripe.” Warren Wiersbe
The compassionate love of God empowers us to compassionately love people who need God.
1. Remember God’s compassion for you
2. Reveal God’s compassion in your circle of influence
3. Pray for more people to find and follow Jesus

Dig Deeper
1. Read Matthew 9:36-39. What stands out to you in this passage?
2. Compassion is empathy in action. Who do you feel a lot of compassion for? Who do you feel little compassion for? Why?
3. What grows your compassion for someone else?
4. In what ways can a person be distressed? How about dejected? What physical, mental, and spiritual components are taking place in someone who is feeling this way?
5. Is there a time in your life when you have been distressed? How did God show compassion to you during that time?
6. Describe what would happen if a sheep was without a shepherd.
7. Jesus, after seeing the crowds distressed and having compassion for them, goes to his disciples and says, “The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few.” Why did He address his disciples instead of other people?
8. Describe an “abundant harvest.” What significance does the word abundant have in this passage?
9. Why are “the workers few?” Why is it important to pray to God to “send workers into his harvest?” What happens when we don’t?
10. Are you ever afraid to share the gospel of Jesus with others? If so, what intimidates you? What does scripture tell us about sharing our faith? What truths does scripture tell us that should erase all fears?
11. If you knew that a great number of people were ready for someone to tell them about God’s love and salvation through Jesus, would it change the way you approached them? Why?
12. The mission of The Bridge Church is to help people find and follow Jesus, here and around the world. In what way are you praying to be a part of this mission?
13. Read John 5:17. Does knowing that God is always working motivate you to be bold in your faith? How?
14. Read Romans 10:13-15. Do you have someone in mind that you’ve been wanting to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with? What truths can you take from this week’s message to make that happen?
