DIGGING DEEPER
Expand
The following questions will be discussed this week in LifeGroups. If you aren't already part of a LifeGroup, sign up now by clicking the link above.
Which "words" and "sayings" is v. 20 talking about (see also v. 10-13)?
Verses 10-11 relates wisdom to the words we're commanded to hold on to. What is wisdom? What is necessary to have wisdom (see Proverbs 9:10 and 2 Timothy 3:15-17)?
What does Proverbs 4:23 mean when it says "from [your heart] are the sources of life?" (Hint: What does v. 20-21 say is in your heart?)
How does what is in your heart affect how you live (see Mark 7:21-23)? Is your heart the source of the evil you do, the good you do, or both?
If our heart is the source of our life, how can we improve the condition of our hearts (for some ideas, see Proverbs 4:20-21, Matthew 6:21, and Ezekiel 36:26-27)?
What are some practical things you think you can do to "guard" your heart?
Take a look at the rest of Proverbs 4 (v. 23-27). What body parts are mentioned in these verses? What is each body part doing? What does this tell us about how we are to live, especially as you see that body parts are included from head to toe (is this related to the thoughts of 2 Timothy 3:17)?
