In this passage of God’s Word, we see Jesus continuing His Journey towards Jerusalem. As He does, He tells a parable teaching His listeners about prayer. This is one of the few parables that Jesus teaches that actually includes why Jesus taught it (check out Luke 18:1). From this parable, we can learn that:
1. We should pray persistently
Luke 18:1-8, 1 Thess. 5:16-18, Eph. 6:18, Col. 4:2, Rom. 12:12
2. We serve a just God
Luke 18:6-8, Is. 30:18, Ps. 89:14, Prov. 21:3
3. Our faith is dependent on prayer
Luke 18:8, Heb. 11:6, Mark 11:22-24

Reflection Questions

1. After reading and hearing about Jesus teaching about prayer, evaluate your own prayer life. What do you do well? What do you need to work on?
2. How would it change your relationship with the Lord if you prayed more? How would it change your interactions with others if you prayed more?
3. What are some practical steps that you can take right now to improve your prayer life? Who can keep you accountable to that?

CHURCH FAMILY NEEDS:Please pray for the Lubbers and the Soules as Greg Lubbers (son of Gene and Dorothy and brother to Becky), died last week. Also, pray for Jerry Jamrozy, who has bone cancer.
MISSIONARIES: This month pray for the Bellas.
FAMILY OF THE WEEK: Each week we’ll pray for a different family in our church. This week pray for the Fishers.
HILLSIDE HAPPENINGS: Pray that the church would continue to stay unified under Christ. Pray for our livestream and for the people joining us there. Pray that God would use us to bring His Kingdom here.. Pray for our children’s ministry as it is getting built back up.
CURRENT HAPPENINGS: Pray for the current health pandemic in our world and in our country. Pray for medical staff and for our leaders as they navigate how to best help. Pray for students, teachers, administrators, and all other school staff. Pray for the recent destruction due to storms.

We believe that our faith grows best when we surround ourselves with other believers. That’s why we encourage everyone to be a part of one of our groups, where we can intentionally share our lives with one another. There is a Sunday School group meeting on Sunday mornings before Service at 9:30. Our small groups are also in the process of starting for the fall. If you would like to be a part of one, please reach out to Pastor Josh.
