Lord Jesus, speak to me. Amen!
Looking forward to something really good can get you through some really bad times.
The Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the archangel’s voice, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are still alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18
The Three Time Periods at the End of Days
1. The Tribulation
“Immediately after the distress of those days…” Matthew 24:29a
“distress” = “tribulation”
The Prophet Daniel first described the Tribulation period way back in 600 B.C.
Seventy weeks are decreed about your people and your holy city— to bring the rebellion to an end, to put a stop to sin, to atone for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy place. Daniel 9:24
Know and understand this: From the issuing of the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until an Anointed One, the ruler, will be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks. It will be rebuilt with a plaza and a moat, but in difficult times. Daniel 9:25
Seven sevens + sixty-two sevens
7 x 7 = 49 (years)
Artaxerxes issued his decree in 457 B.C.
After those sixty-two weeks the Anointed One will be cut off and will have nothing.Daniel 9:26a
This is the prediction of Messiah’s first coming and death.
▪457 B.C. + 49 = 408 B.C.
▪62 x 7 = 434 (years)
▪408 B.C. + 434 = 26 A.D.
The people of the coming ruler will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come with a flood, and until the end there will be war; desolations are decreed. Daniel 9:26b
The coming ruler was Titus, who destroyed the city of Jerusalem and its sanctuary in 70 A.D.
Keep following, because there’s one “seven,” left:
62 + 7 = 69
He will make a firm covenant with many for one week…Daniel 9:27a
…but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and offering. And the abomination of desolation will be on a wing of the temple until the decreed destruction is poured out on the desolator.”Daniel 9:27
2. The Millennium Millennium is Latin for “1,000.”
They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were completed. This is the first resurrection. Revelation 20:4b-5
3. The New Creation
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away.Revelation 21:1
We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, concerning those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve like the rest, who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, in the same way, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. For we say this to you by a word from the Lord: We who are still alive at the Lord’s coming will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the archangel’s voice, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are still alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
What Will the Return Be Like?
1. The Lord will descend.
2. The Archangel will summon all believers & blow his trumpet.
3. The dead in Christ will rise.
4. The alive in Christ will rise.
5. We will meet Him in the clouds.
Listen, I am telling you a mystery: We will not all fall asleep, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we will be changed. For this corruptible body must be clothed with incorruptibility, and this mortal body must be clothed with immortality. When this corruptible body is clothed with incorruptibility, and this mortal body is clothed with immortality, then the saying that is written will take place:
Death has been swallowed up in victory. Where, death, is your victory? Where, death, is your sting?
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!
Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the Lord’s work, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:51-58
6. We will all be changed.
They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were completed. This is the first resurrection. Revelation 20:4b-5
7.This is the “first resurrection.”
When Will the Return Take Place?
1. The Pre-Tribulation Rapture
2. The Mid-Tribulation Rapture
3. The Post-Tribulation Rapture
I am not praying that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. John 17:15
Because you have kept my command to endure, I will also keep you from the hour of testing that is going to come on the whole world to test those who live on the earth. Revelation 3:10
Therefore encourage one another with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:18
Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the Lord’s work, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:58
Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years.Revelation 20:6
When I saw him, I fell at his feet like a dead man. Revelation 1:17a
