What words do you associate with “evangelism?”

From scripture, words like “important,” “calling”, “purpose”, and “capable” should be associated with evangelism.

John 4 equips us to do effective evangelism and make a huge impact with our lives.

A huge impact can be made when looking past the surface level and being aware of the deeper level. (Example: Nicodemus from John 3 and the woman at the well in John 4 are different on the outside but have the same needs inwardly.)
When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, ‘Will you give me a drink?’ (John 4:7).

Evangelism knows no barriers. (Jesus crossed racial, gender, moral, and social barriers for this encounter.)

The Samaritan woman said to Him, ‘You are a Jew, and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink? (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans) (John 4:9).
Jesus answered her, ‘If you knew ” THE GIFT of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked Him, and He would have given you LIVING WATER" (John 4:10).

The Gift is God’s Grace (something received not earned.)

Living Water is what satisfies the inner thirsts.
The woman said to Him, ‘Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water’ (John 4:15).

He told her, ‘Go, call your husband and come back’ (John 4:16).

‘I have no husband,’ she replied (John 4:17)

Jesus said to her, ‘You are right when you say you have no husband. The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true’ (John 4:17-18).
Why did Jesus change the subject from living water to the woman’s history with men? The answer is Jesus didn’t change the subject. She wants living water, and Jesus is helping her see that it’s not found in any creative thing. Only Christ can satisfy the thirsts of her heart.

Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in Him because of the woman’s testimony, ‘He told me everything I ever did’ (John 4:39).

Making a huge impact requires getting over your own barriers of self-consciousness and fear.
They said to the woman, ‘We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world" (John 4:42).

Evangelism strives for simplicity, not complication.

A simple question to ask is….”What does spirituality look like to you?”

A simple structure for sharing your own testimony includes:

Your life before meeting Christ
How you met Christ
The difference meeting Christ makes today

Internalize the truth that you are known completely by God, yet loved perfectly by Him! (This will help you share with the right attitude.)

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16).

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him (John 3:17).

Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son (John 3:18).
