What do you want to leave in 2021?
· Thrive – healthy and growing in all areas of your life

Big Idea: God is for you and wants you to thrive!
· Psalm 23:6 NLT – 6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Scripture: Psalm 1:1-6 NLT – 1 Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. 2 But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. 3 They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do. 4 But not the wicked! They are like worthless chaff, scattered by the wind. 5 They will be condemned at the time of judgment. Sinners will have no place among the godly. 6 For the Lord watches over the path of the godly, but the path of the wicked leads to destruction.

What does thriving look like?
· Joyful and Content in Jesus
§ Psalm 1:1 NLT – Oh the joys of those…
§ Psalm 40:4 NLT – 4 Oh, the joys of those who trust the Lord, who have no confidence in the proud or in those who worship idols.
§ Philippian 4:11b-13 NLT – I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. 12 I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. 13 For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.

· Choosing to turn from Sin and Guarding your Heart
§ Psalm 1:1 NLT – 1 Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers.
§ Proverbs 28:13 NLT – 13 People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy.

· Following the Truth and Delighting in it!
§ Psalm 1:2 NLT – 2 But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night.
§ Psalm 119:16 NLT – 16 I will delight in your decrees and not forget your word.
§ Psalm 119:24 NLT – 24 Your statutes are my delight; they are my counselors.
§ Joshua 1:8 NLT – 8 Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.

· A Healthy and Fruitful Life
§ Psalm 1:3 NLT - 3 They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.
o Healthy because you are receiving everything you need.
a. Psalm 23:1 NLT – 1 The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need.
b. Matthew 6:33 NLT – 33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
o Fruitful because the Holy Spirit is producing fruit through your surrendered life.
a. Galatians 5:22-23 NLT – 22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control.
b. John 15:5 NLT – I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.

Reflection
· What are the areas of your life where you are not thriving?
· Where am I not content?
· What are the sins that trip me up each year? Where do I need to guard my heart that I am not? What changes do I need to make so I am not repeating past mistakes?
· What is my plan for following the Truth this year?
You are Here!

· You are where you are, but you don’t have to stay there.
