30 Days to Live - Week 1 - Pastor Nick Grim
This series will be one of encouragement and honestly of stewarding your life for Jesus and are you being intentional with the gift of life but before we do:
1. God has a message for you not the person that is not here.
2. Let God speak to you, not me.
3. If God asks you to live differently to day do something about it. Remember that little changes are what creates growth in Jesus
What if you heard your phone go off with the emergency alert service and you saw this: "Ballistic Missile Threat inbound to Hawaii. Seek immediate shelter. This is not a Drill." It happened on Saturday, January 13, 2018. What ensued next was not just horrifying, but the things that nightmares are made up of. People were getting into places of their homes and making calls to members of their family telling them that they loved them and begging for just a little more time that they could spend with their family. I’m sure they had thoughts of what they wish they would of accomplished and what they wish they could take back. How they would have changed and done something different, how much joy and dread happened in the next 37 minutes as they waited for what may be their last few moments on earth? What would you do if that was you? Would you be left with questions, concerns, what about fear, dread?
Our mission statement is: Restoring Hope in a hurting world
---How? If we are not intentional about that, then what are we doing? If we are given only a certain amount of time, what are we doing with it?
Matthew 24:36-42 “But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only. For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. Then two men will be in the field; one will be taken and one left. Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one left. Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.
We never know when our time is up:
First reaction: Fear
Second reaction: Acceptance
Third reaction: Response

Why can’t we know?
Matthew 24:43-44 But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and would not have let his house be broken into. Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
Here are 2 Reasons Jesus doesn’t tell us:
Reason 1. You would try to prevent the day from coming
-----“A person often meets his destiny on the road he took to avoid it.” ― Jean de La Fontaine.
-----Matthew 24:48-51 "But if that wicked servant says to himself, ‘My master is delayed,’ and begins to beat his fellow servants and eats and drinks with drunkards, the master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know and will cut him in pieces and put him with the hypocrites. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."
Reason 2. You would not trust Jesus’s design for your life
-----Matthew 24:45-47 “Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his master has set over his household, to give them their food at the proper time? Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes. Truly, I say to you, he will set him over all his possessions."
Those reasons are why I want to encourage you in this:
Life is meant to achieve God honoring goals
What does that look like?
Psalm 39:4 “O Lord, make me know my end
and what is the measure of my days;
let me know how fleeting I am!"
---Life is fleeting so what will you do with your days?
Eccl. 5:18-20 "Behold, what I have seen to be good and fitting is to eat and drink and find enjoyment in all the toil with which one toils under the sun the few days of his life that God has given him, for this is his lot. Everyone also to whom God has given wealth and possessions and power to enjoy them, and to accept his lot and rejoice in his toil—this is the gift of God. For he will not much remember the days of his life because God keeps him occupied with joy in his heart."
If you're inspired to write a bucket list, I recommend these categories for Christians:
-1. Kingdom
-2. Relationships
-3. Work
-4. Pleasure
