“There is a God-shaped vacuum in the heart of each man” Blaise Pascal famously wrote, “which cannot be satisfied by any created thing but only by God the Creator, made know through Jesus Christ.” Jesus Himself says pretty much the same thing in John cp. 6. John 6 may be one of the most theologically dense chapters in the gospels, but its core message is a simple one: Jesus is the only one who can satisfy our deepest spiritual hunger. In this new year themed sermon, we consider three things that Jesus says cannot satisfy our spiritual hunger and then the one and only thing that can.
