Nunc Dimittis, which is Latin for “now dismiss or the waiting is over”.

· He was righteous and devout and was eagerly waiting for the Messiah to come and rescue Israel.
· We discover that the Holy Spirit was upon him and had revealed to him that he would not die until he had seen the Lord’s Messiah.

· We also know that Simeon didn’t just accidentally show up to the temple that day. Luke reveals that Simeon went to the Temple because the Holy Spirit led him there.

1. Jesus is the promised Messiah.

2. Jesus is the light for both Jew and Gentile

Simeon prophesied, He is a light to reveal God to the nations (Gentiles), and he is the glory of your people Israel!”

3. The light of Jesus will cause some to fall.

4. The light of Jesus will cause some to rise.

When Jesus shows up in your life everything changes.
