In this passage of God’s Word, we see Jesus continuing to teach His disciples. This is a continuation of what He has taught them, and the pharisees from chapter 16. Considering that He was just addressing the pharisees, it is no surprise that Jesus would teach on traps that we should avoid in our faith.
Traps to avoid at all costs:
1. Putting others in temptation
Luke 17:1-2, Rom. 14:13-23, 1 Cor. 8:13
2. Holding unto a grudge
Luke 17:3-4, 6:37, Eph. 4:32, Mark 11:25, Matt. 6:14-15, 18:21-22
3. Underestimating genuine faith
Luke 17:5-6, Matt. 21:22, Heb. 11:1, Mark 11:22-24
4. Becoming prideful in your faith
Luke 17:7-10, Jam. 4:6-10, Ps. 25:9, Prov. 11:2, 16:18-19, Col. 3:2
Reflection Questions

1. Do you feel like you ever have fallen into one or more of these traps? If so, which one? Why? Do you still struggle with that today?
2. Which one of these traps are you most susceptible to? Why?
3. If you avoided these traps, how do you feel like it would impact your relationship with Christ?

We believe that our faith grows best when we surround ourselves with other believers. That’s why we encourage everyone to be a part of one of our groups, where we can intentionally share our lives with one another. There is a Sunday School group meeting on Sunday mornings before Service at 9:30. Our small groups are also in the process of starting for the fall. If you would like to be a part of one, please reach out to Pastor Josh.
