When has God resolved an impossible situation for you?
Mordecai must have felt Anxious, Afraid and Hopeless in the situation he found himself in with Haman plotting to kill him and all the Jews. But God was working in the ordinary circumstances of the king's sleepless night to replace all this with His Peace, Hope and (physical ) Salvation. What a Great Exchange!
I felt anxious, afraid and hopeless when in Seminary and facing a Greek qualifier exam I needed to pass to begin New Testament classes in Greek. God worked in the ordinary circumstances of inviting a couple of young, single seminarians over for dinner to replace those feelings with His Peace, Hope and salvation (from not being able to start classes in the Fall). Another Great Exchange!
We can feel Anxious, Afraid and Hopeless if we are trying to please God on our own and somehow "earn" eternal life. But through Jesus, God's Christmas Gift to us, God replaces all of that with His Peace, Hope and eternal Salvation. That's God's Gift Exchange. And what an amazing Exchange it is!
Keep God's Gift Exchange in mind as you make your final preparations this week to celebrate Christmas! Don't let the Hustle, bustle and stress steal the joy you have by receiving and experiencing God's Gift Exchange.
