The back story of the birth of Jesus is central to why we even have the Christmas story.
Jesus has a unique claim and came with a unique message.
Jesus came from a long line of people, many of whom were an embarrassment to the whole Jewish race.
In the line of Jesus there are some Grade A sinners.
God went out of his way to weave into the tapestry of Jesus’ lineage the very kinds of people he came for.
Our goodness will not get us into a relationship with God, but sin doesn’t have to keep us from being in a relationship with God.
All who believed in Jesus have been adopted as sons and daughters of God.
The Christmas story is a story of adoption.
You will never be good enough to get into a relationship with God on your own, but you can’t do anything so bad to keep you out a relationship with him if you will receive Jesus.
Christmas is the beginning of your adoption story.
God is inviting you to come home this Christmas.
It is the transfer of trust that brings a person into a relationship with God through Jesus.
