Life was not always good at Bethlehem.
Bethlehem means “house of Bread.” Ephrathah means “fruitful.”
I. Bethlehem was a place of sorrow for Jacob.
A. “She called his name Ben-oni [son of my trouble]; but his father called him Benjamin [son of my right hand]” (Genesis 35:18).
B. But Jacob found God to be faithful.
II. Bethlehem was a place of bitterness for Naomi.
A. “Do not call me Naomi; call me Mara, for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me” (Ruth 1:20).
B. But Naomi found God to be faithful.
III. Bethlehem was a place of redemption for Ruth.
A. Ruth was widowed and in a foreign land.
B. Ruth found God faithful.
You too will find God faithful if you come to Him.
