Right Rejoicing

Right Rejoicing

We have so much to celebrate! Five years ago we introduced the 2k22 initiative: By 2022, by God's grace and power, we will see 2000 people baptized and growing in their relationship with Jesus Christ through connection to the Word, prayer and community. The Lord has done so many marvelous things in our midst the past 5 years. Moreover, this past week we concluded our Creating Spaces initiative as we made a final payment to retire our new addition debt ("We're Debt Free!"). We'll celebrate this together and rejoice in God's movement. But we'll also remind ourselves about the true foundation of our rejoicing. We're rejoicing in some encouraging realities, but what about when life is difficult and good news is scarce or non-existent? Can we rejoice in those moments? Can we have an unshakable hope in which we can rejoice even in times of sorrow or suffering?

This Week's Sermon: Right Rejoicing
He must increase, but we must decrease
Rejoice in position, not prevailing
Talk It Over

Visit npberean.org/grow-groups for more resources or to connect.

Treasuring God: • What work have you seen God do in your life in the last 5 years? In your family? In Berean? What would you like to see Him do next?

Being Transformed: In what ways might you try to be noticed/impressive, drawing attention to yourself rather than to God?

Loving Others: Scripture tells us that we must become less so that Christ can become more. What does it look like to become less for others? How can we submit ourselves to serve others?

Pursuing Unity: Do you feel like you are a part of the body at Berean? What is keeping you from feeling that? Are you connected in community and/or through partnership?

Next Week's Sermon

Have you heard the Christmas story so many times it almost feels…ho-hum? One more bit of white noise amid the rush-rush holiday season? But we’re talking about God coming *in the flesh*!Let’s step aside from the hubbub and look at some of the first people to encounter the Christ child – how did they react?
And what about us? What’s our reaction as we encounter Him this Christmas? Casual or indifferent, maybe even hostile? Or joyful, amazed, delighted?
Next week we'll explore how Elizabeth and John the Baptist reacted when they Encountered the Child.
