Puyallup Nazarene Church
The Art of Intentionality
Discipleship--following Jesus, becoming imitators of Him--happens not by drift, but by decision. In view of his mercies poured out on me, in remembrance of his love and lordship, I am given by grace the ability to respond to him. I become intentional.

Discussion and Application Questions for Group Life Communities and Personal Study-

Read John 15:1-10

Observe- After reading the teaching of Jesus in a couple of versions, pay attention to the words of Jesus. What imagery does he use? What words are repeated? What else do you observe in Jesus' words?

Interpret
- What do you think 'abide' or 'remain' means? Why is this such a big deal to Jesus? Why is it a big deal to us?

- What is fruitfulness? Or, what is the fruit?

- Can you identify the several connections for 'abiding' or 'remaining?' How do you think these are related? verses 4, 7 and 9.

- What does Jesus expect to happen as a result of our intimate relationship with him?

Apply
- How could you put into practice this 'abiding' or 'remaining?'

- How might the rhythms of prayer, silence, Scripture, Sabbath and solitude contribute to your own experience of 'abiding' in Jesus?

- What do you think you could do to intentionally engage with Jesus on this very real issue of nurturing your relationship with the Lord Jesus?

Our groups are becoming great healing places for people. Take time to pray for each other and encourage one another as we walk with Jesus.

Remember:

Four Principles for Living the Missio Dei:
*Share in life with people who do not yet know Jesus.
*Inspire others to know and follow Jesus by living your faith attractively.
*Grow with others in your faith and obedience.
*Serve others with sacrificial love.
