Belong to His Body

Belong to His Body

Do you want more grace in your life? Things like kindness, beauty, generosity, forgiveness? Author David Mathis explains that tapping into grace is like getting a refreshing drink of water. We can turn on the faucet, but we're not the source of the water. Similarly, God has designed rhythms and habits of life that can connect us to the flow of His grace, but we're not the source of the grace. In Mathis's (very readable!) book "Habits of Grace," he groups these practices/disciplines into three categories: Hear His Voice (Word), Have His Ear (prayer), and Belong to His Body (fellowship, or community). Each week we'll explore a habit or two under each heading, as we seek a greater experience of God's grace in our lives.

Baptisms

Baptism is a public witness of an internal reality – that the person has passed from death to life by trusting in Jesus alone for salvation. Today we’re baptizing:

• David Grandel (by Andrew Walker, Sola leader)
• Aspen LaVante (by Jordan Frey, Sola small group leader)
Talk It Over

Visit npberean.org/grow-groups for more resources or to connect.

Treasuring God: Read Rom 5:8 & 8:1. How does knowing God’s view of me help in accepting criticism?

Being Transformed: What does Scripture say about hypocritical judgment (Matt. 7:1-6)? What is the difference between biblically correcting and hypocritical judgment?

Loving Others: Why is giving biblical correction loving and needed for other believers?

Pursuing Unity: Knowing that the church acts like a body (1 Cor. 12:12-31) and different parts serve different roles, how is that helpful to our growth as believers? Why is biblical correction important to the church?

Next Week's Sermon

As we draw near to the completion of our 2k22 and Creating Spaces initiatives, we'll stop and pause as we celebrate God's goodness to NPBC over the past 5 years. This is a reflection and celebration you'll want to enjoy with us!
