This is the Way wk5 - Do It Again
Around 700 hundred years before Jesus, we were given a proclamation from a prophet who was trying to get God’s people to follow Him again. They were God’s royal priesthood, a holy nation, blessed to be a blessing, but they were living below their calling. It is into this setting that the prophet Micah was called to bring a word of realignment. He challenged the people of God to return to a simple life focus... captured in one verse, but it was large enough to take a lifetime to live out. He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. -- Micah 6:8 ...following after God may not always be easy, but it was never meant to be complicated. We need to be people who walk in this way - way more. This is the way of Jesus.

And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God. -Micah 6:8
Quote:
“It’s one thing to be awakened to injustice and quite another to be willing to be inconvenienced and interrupted to do something about it.”
-Christine Caine (undaunted book)
Justice is doing the right thing at the right time!
We each have a choice: we can be stewards of "just us" or justice.
*Mantra:
Do for one, what you wish you could do for everyone.
Jesus models how mercy puts a nuance on justice. We act justly, so we can show mercy.
In a sentence, to love mercy is to extend kindness and compassion whether someone deserves it or not.
THE CROSS proves that mercy is at the core of God’s heart and we’re to have his heart formed more and more within us - we must model mercy.
Pride alone insists on taking first place, but faith seeks to give God first place. Humility is that virtue required of those who are faithful followers of our Lord.
Quote from C.S. Lewis:
“the essence of gospel-humility is not thinking more of myself or thinking less of myself, it is thinking of myself less.”
James 3:13–16 in The Message:
13-16 Do you want to be counted wise, to build a reputation for wisdom? Here’s what you do: Live well, live wisely, live humbly. It’s the way you live, not the way you talk, that counts. Mean-spirited ambition isn’t wisdom. Boasting that you are wise isn’t wisdom. Twisting the truth to make yourselves sound wise isn’t wisdom. It’s the furthest thing from wisdom—it’s animal cunning, devilish plotting. Whenever you’re trying to look better than others or get the better of others, things fall apart and everyone ends up at the others’ throats.
The prophet Micah is calling us to a better - more godly way…
Jesus will ultimately put that on display and call us to FOLLOW HIM
ACT JUSTLY
LOVE MERCY
WALK HUMBLY
(This is to be our LIFESTYLE)
When I choose to repeat justice, mercy, and humility . . . it changes me.
Following Jesus isn’t always easy, but it’s not meant to be complicated:
Act Justly.
Love Mercy.
Walk Humbly.
Do it today.
Do it again tomorrow
Do it again the day after that
Do it again next month
Do it again and again and again….
Rinse and Repeat
