Read Mark 2: 1-5 and Luke 5:17-26

Observe- take time to read the passage a few times….consider reading it in different translations. What words or phrases stand out to you?

- What do you know about the people who were listening to Jesus?

- Whose faith triggered the response of Jesus toward the man?

- How did Jesus respond to the man’s need? (Why do you think Jesus forgave the man of his sins rather than healing him?

Interpret
- How can an audience influence the message of Jesus for good or bad?

- Why do you think Jesus would risk upsetting the religious leaders and Pharisees?

- In what ways did Jesus exercise his authority in this encounter?

Apply
- Who are you most like in the story? The paralytic? The friends? The crowd? Jesus? What would you like Jesus to do for you?

- Do you have friends and family who need to hear from Jesus? In what creative ways could you get them in front of Jesus?

- In what ways would you like to hear Jesus say, ‘take up your mat and go home?’

Our groups are becoming great healing places for people. Take time to pray for each other and encourage one another as we walk with Jesus.

Remember:

Four Principles for Living the Missio Dei:
*Share in life with people who do not yet know Jesus.
*Inspire others to know and follow Jesus by living your faith attractively.
*Grow with others in your faith and obedience.
