In this passage of God’s Word, we see Jesus eating with some of the religious elitists. These people would have been the most elite class of people in Israel, and they knew it. Jesus, as He is eating with them, gives them multiple lessons in humility. From these lessons we learn…
How to stay humble:
1. Don’t seek places of honor
Luke 14:7-11, Phil. 2:3, Rom. 12:10, Eph. 4:2, 5:18-21
2. Associate with the lowly
Luke 14:12-14, Gal. 3:28, Col. 3:11, James 2:1-26, Acts 10:34
3. Realize that God offers salvation to all
Luke 14:15-24, 2 Pet. 3:9, John 3:16, 1 Tim. 2:3-4
Reflection Questions

1. On a scale from 1-10, where 1 is extremely arrogant, and 10 is extremely humble, how do you think those in your life would rate you? Think about your family, co-workers, friends, anyone who you regularly interact with. Why would they rate you like that?
2. Which one the 3 ways of staying humble do you need to work on the most? Why? How can you apply that concept to your life best, and who could keep you accountable to that?
3. If you applied your major takeaway from Jesus’ message in this passage of Scripture, how would it change the way you interact with others? How would it change the way that people view you? How would you be better able to show God’s love to the people in your life?
