Sunday 9:00 AM
Sunday 10:30 AM
You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
John 8:44 NIV
Be careful what you think because your thoughts run your life.
Proverbs 4:23 NCV
Our brains are constantly shifting and adjusting and changing. This is called neuroplasticity. It is the ability, like play dough, of re-shifting, holding that shape and then shifting again.
NEUROPLASTICITY CAN BE A GOOD THING; A GOOD BEAUTIFUL THING; A GOOD, BEAUTIFUL, POWERFUL THING IN OUR LIVES.
I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.
Psalm 119:11
NEUROPLASTICITY CAN ALSO BE A BAD THING, A BAD AND UGLY THING, A BAD AND UGLY AND POWERFUL THING IN OUR LIVES.
____
HOW DO WE GET OUT OF THE RUTS?
1. ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM
Admit it to yourself
Admit it to God
Admit it to others
Therefore, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
James 5:16
2. IDENTIFY THE LIE
Behind the problem is a lie. The lie is what we want to address.
Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles...
Hebrews 12:1
3. REPLACE THE LIE . . . WITH THE TRUTH
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Romans 12:2 NLT
4. REINFORCE THE TRUTH
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.
Philippians 4:8-9 NLT
THOUGHTS “Fix your thoughts . . .”
ACTION “Keep putting into practice . . .”
REWARD “Then the God of peace will be with you.”
