Church on a Mission - Week 6 - Faith is living out our allegiance to King Jesus.
Last week we continued our series of church on mission and we ended up understanding that Faith is living out our allegiance to King Jesus.
You ever look back at things in life and wish you had done things differently?
People say all the time, “You can’t regret what happened in the past it made you who you are today!” I disagree with this statement because if we had walked in God’s wisdom the whole time of our life than we would still be well rounded. However, I do believe we all think that there are things in our past that will always come back to haunt us.
Philippians 3:12-13 Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own.
---You can not obtain perfection like Jesus
Philippians 3:13-17 But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you. Only let us hold true to what we have attained.
Brothers, join in imitating me, and keep your eyes on those who walk according to the example you have in us.
---Following Jesus:
1.Forget the past and focus on Jesus
2.Mature Christians focus on the goal Jesus has set
3.When burdened turn back to God
4.Truth is that God loves you and wants you for eternity
5.Walk with those who are walking toward Jesus
Philippians 3:18-19 For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things.
---Warnings:
1.Enemies of the King will be destroyed
---Eternity hangs in the balance, Eternity focused
2.Enemies of the King are only looking to be fulfilled by pleasure
3.Enemies of the King are self accomplishing
4.Enemies of the King want the world to satisfy them
We are to be compassionate toward those who are enemies not judges.
Philippians 3:20 But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.
---People will want to remind you of who you were, not who Jesus has made you to be
Philippians 4:1 Therefore, my brothers, whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm thus in the Lord, my beloved.
Hope is maintained by focusing on our future with Jesus!
