Chiming of the Hour and Prelude

Welcome to Worship: Rev. Eric Porterfield
Call to Worship: Rev. Alicia Porterfield
Rev. DaVontaé Edwards

O Lord, listen closely to our hearts. Make our steps firm on Your paths. Do not let our feet slip.
Let us see your face in righteousness; when we awake,
fill us full by seeing your image.
Manifest Your faithful love in amazing ways
because You are the one who saves those who take refuge in You.
Let us see your face in righteousness; when we awake,
fill us full by seeing your image.
Watch us with the very pupil of Your eye! Hide us in the protection of Your wings.
Let us see your face in righteousness; when we awake, fill us full by seeing your image. Amen.
~adapted from Psalm 17

Invocation and Lord’s Prayer Jennifer Farrar

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily
bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, for Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
Hymn of Praise: "How Firm a Foundation"
How firm a foundation, you saints of the Lord,
is laid for your faith in his excellent Word!
What more can he say than to you he has said,
to you who for refuge to Jesus have fled?

"Fear not, I am with you; O be not dismayed,
for I am your God, and will still give you aid.
I'll strengthen you, help you, and cause you to stand,
upheld by my righteous, omnipotent hand."

**Our Future: Rachael Gibson
Hymn of Thanksgiving: "Open My Eyes That I May See"
Open my eyes that I may see glimpses of truth thou hast for me.
Place in my hands the wonderful key that shall unclasp and set me free.
Silently now I wait for thee, ready, my God, thy will to see.
Open my eyes, illumine me, Spirit divine!

Open my ears that I may hear voices of truth thou sendest clear,
and while the wave notes fall on my ear, everything false will disappear.
Silently now I wait for thee, ready, my God, thy will to see.
Open my ears, illumine me, Spirit divine!

Prayer of Thanksgiving: Rev. DaVontaé Edwards

*Doxology

Praise God from Whom all blessings flow. Praise Him all creatures here below. Praise Him above ye heavenly host. Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Music of Thanksgiving: "Be Thou My Vision"
Choral Ensemble

Be Thou my vision, O Lord of my heart, all else be naught
to me save that Thou art--Thou my best thought by day or by night,
waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my wisdom, an thou my true word;
I ever with thee and thou with me, Lord.
Thou my great Father; thine own may I be,
Thou in me dwelling and I one with thee.

Riches I heed not, nor vain, empty praise;
thou mine inheritance, now and always:
thou and thou only first in my heart,
high King of heaven, my treasure thou art.

Pastoral Prayer: Rev. Alicia Porterfield

Sermon: “Graciously Seen by Jesus"
Rev. Eric S. Porterfield
*Hymn of Response
“Ask Ye What Great Thing I Know”

Ask ye what great thing I know that delights and stirs me so?
What the high reward I win? Whose name I glory in?
Jesus Christ, the Crucified.

Who defeats my fiercest foes? Who consoles my saddest woes?
Who revives my fainting heart, healing all its hidden smart?
Jesus Christ, the Crucified.

This is that great thing I know; this delights and stirs me so:
faith in Him who died to save, Him who triumphed over the grave:
Jesus Christ, the Crucified.

Benediction: Rev. Eric S. Porterfield

Postlude: Jon Brannon

Who We Are

"The church on the corner with the big columns" is who some say we are. While blessed with a building, the life of our church expands beyond these six columns.
We are a family of faith striving to love God and love others, acknowledging the greatest commandments as defined by our Lord. These are the foundation for our existence; and everything we do, whether inside or outside these columns, must reflect love of our God and love for others.
The four inner columns represent the four primary areas of the life of our church: Inreach, Outreach, Spiritual Growth, and Missions. To learn more, visit our site.
