Recap: In this series we are discussing how we can love the people around us and change our world by following the model of Jesus and blessing those around us. We are blessed to be a blessing. In this series we are using a book called Bless as a companion to the series. In the book and series we are using the letters of BLESS to talk about 5 practical ways to be a blessing to those around us. Today we talked about the first S - Serve. One of the ways that Jesus modeled blessing others was through serving with humility those around us. And, we learned today that serving “the least of these” is one of the ways our faith proves itself as authentic.

(1)When was a time you really felt like you had exceptional service from someone?

(2)Why do we so often struggle to serve others?

(3)The authors of Bless talked about how Jesus took of his crown (as the King, Son of God) and put on an apron to serve others. What do you need to “take off” so that you can “put on” an apron?

(4)Serving is sacrificing (our time, personal wants, expectations, etc.) so why do it? What do you get out of it? What does the other person get out of it? What does God get out of it (Hebrews 13:16)?

(5)Read Matthew 25:31-45. This is kind of a strange passage, but in it Jesus says that what people did or didn’t do to the “least of these” proves whether they were really followers of Him or not. Who in your world would you consider “the least of these”?

(6)What can you do this week to intentionally serve someone that came to mind in question 5?

(7)This week continue to pray the Bless Prayer: Heavenly Father, show me today who you want me to bless.

*Pray the Prayer everyday this week: “Heavenly Father, show me today who you want me to bless?

*When God brings someone to mind, look to serve them in some way.

*This week – look to serve someone that would be considered one of “the least of these” by our society.
