Your flesh and the Spirit war with one another and the battlefield is your mind. You are a spirit, you have a soul (mind, will, emotions), and you live in a body. Scripture uses the words mind and heart to describe your soul.
Whoever wins the battle for your mind wins the war for your daily life. You are rich or poor, healthy or unhealthy, joyful or depressed, relationally fulfilled or dysfunctional, victorious or defeated, spiritual or carnal, based on your thoughts.
Your mind is not your brain; your mind is eternal, but your brain is temporal. Your brain is the control center for your body; your mind is the control center for your brain.
Your brain is ruled by your mind. Your thoughts/choices/feelings create neurological pathways in your brain that create your habits and health.
Your thoughts literally change the shape of your brain and determine how your DNA is expressed; this is called epigenetic modification.
In order to win the battle within, we have to renew our minds. We have to strategically change the way we think.
