David was only a young boy when he decided to stand against the Philistine giant. Those around him were too afraid to step forward and confront the giant. They believed there was no chance for them to be the victor in that fight. In reality, they were correct, because the only way they could have won was with the intervention of God. David also knew this fact. However, David understood that on his own he was the underdog, but with God, he would be the victor! We often face challenges like this in our modern Christian lives. We can choose to cower and retreat like David’s peers, or we can be like David and put our trust in a God that leads us through every dark valley and makes us winners in every battle. But we have to choose to trust in Him. When the Church comes together in great faith, there is nothing it cannot do. The Israelites were fearful until David stepped up in faith. Sometimes a community of believers needs someone to go first. That step of faith can ignite others to follow.
