Luke 13:10-21

In this passage of God’s Word, we see Jesus healing someone in the Synagogue on the Sabbath. The ruler of the Synagogue did not like this because it went against the religious teachers’ rules. Jesus pushes back against the ruler’s objection, and then goes onto teach about the Kingdom of God. Through this interaction we can learn…

How to make a lasting impact in God’s Kingdom:

1. Don’t get led astray by legalism
Luke 13:10-17, Rom. 14:1-4, Gal. 5:1, Mark 7:6-7,
Matt. 23:23, Hosea 6:6, Ps. 51:17

2. Realize small steps of faith can have massive outcomes
Luke 13:18-21, 16:10, Matt. 25:21-23

3. Endure over time and don’t give up
Luke 13:18-21, 21:19, Is. 40:3-31, Gal. 5:22-23, 6:9, James 1:2-4 & 12, 5:11, Rom. 2:7, 5:3-5, 12:12, Heb. 10:36, 12:1-15, 2 Thess. 1:4, 3:5 & 13, Eph. 6:18, 2 Tim. 2:12, Matt. 24:13, 1 Cor. 9:14, 13:7, 16:13, Acts 14:22, Rev. 3:10-11
Reflection Questions

1. The religious leader undoubtably cased harm because of their legalistic tendencies. What examples have you personally witnessed of legalism? What was the outcome of those examples? Did any of those examples impact you personally?

2. In Luke 13:18-21, Jesus likens the kingdom of God to two small things: planting a small seed and putting in leaven until a large amount of flour was leavened. How could you be faithful with the small things that God has put in your life? What kind of an impact could those small steps of faith have?

3. In both examples that Jesus likens the kingdom of God to, there is some aspect of waiting. Whether it be for the flour to leaven or the tree to grow, time and waiting are involved. How patient are you? What kind of impact could thinking more long-term have as you try and be faithful with what God has given to you?

Fall Family Fun Night

On Friday, Oct. 22nd, we are having a fall fun event for the whole family. This will give everyone an opportunity to fellowship together and there will be fun, fall things for the kids to do. We are also looking for people who are interested in decorating their car trunks and handing out candy.

Open Sorting Hour at the Foster Closet

Want to help out at the foster closet but can’t commit to helping regularly? That’s ok! Every Friday from 12:30-1:30 is an open sorting hour. If you’d like to help during the open sorting hour, please text Tammi Fisher at (216) 526-9974.

Groups

We believe that our faith grows best when we surround ourselves with other believers. That’s why we encourage everyone to be a part of one of our groups, where we can intentionally share our lives with one another. There is a Sunday School group meeting on Sunday mornings before Service at 9:30. Our small groups are also in the process of starting for the fall. If you would like to be a part of one, please reach out to Pastor Josh.
