What is God like? (Part 2)

What is God like? (Part 2)

What would you wish for if you knew it would come true? Perhaps a new or restored relationship, health, wealth, or freedom from some difficulty or besetting sin? What if we could have all of the above, but without the presence of God – would we be satisfied? Too often, we’re tricked into substituting God’s good gifts for God Himself. Our fixation on the gifts hinders us from finding the deep satisfaction that can only come from truly knowing Him. Will we join together to seek a deeper encounter with God’s glory, a greater sense of His presence and goodness in our lives? Or will we be distracted by, and settle for, lesser things?

Visit npberean.org/group-resources for more group resources or to connect.

Treasuring God: How have you seen God’s love and faithfulness played out in your life recently?

Being Transformed: What are the “securities” we run to when we feel like God is not being faithful or life seems out of control? How do we grow in trusting God’s faithfulness?

Loving Others: Would those around you/who work with you describe you as loving and faithful? What step can you take to love someone this week?

Pursuing Unity: What is the picture the New Testament displays to us about how we should view those in the church? Do we see church family in this way? How can we take a step to loving our church like a family?

Next Week's Sermon

A.W. Tozer once wrote, "What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." We've explored God's revealed qualities of compassion, graciousness, loyal love and faithfulness. Next week we'll see how these attributes compel him to the crux of this chasm - he is "slow to anger." In application, we'll delight in how this helps us Treasure God more and then we'll consider our own anger - do we image God in this?
