Attitudes & motives matter
●The wrong reason to serve: OBLIGATION
Rom 7:6 NIV
But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.
●The wrong way to serve: SELFISHLY
▹Five ways we serve selfishly
1 - Serve to LOOK good
2 - Serve to FEEL good
3 - Serve to GAIN FAVOR
4 - Serve only when I'm in CONTROL
5 - Serve only when I LIKE the people I'm serving with
The byproducts of serving
● It brings GLORY to God
Matthew 5:16 NIV
In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
● It promotes PERSONAL growth
● It promotes CHURCH growth
● It brings BLESSING
● It brings JOY
● It opens doors for more MINISTRY
● It changes RELATIONSHIPS
● It produces FELLOWSHIP
● It makes you GREAT
