WHAT IS THE SECRET TO GREATNESS?

Humble yourself = Exalted
Exalt yourself = Humbled

“The greatest among you must be a servant. But those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” Matthew 23:11 - 12

“For whoever exalts himself will be humbled. And whoever humbles himself will be exalted.” Matthew 23:12

EXALT or HUMBLE?

HOW HUMILITY HANDLES OUR AMBITION

“Therefore whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:4

Exalt yourself – Be demanding
Humble yourself and be depending

HOW HUMILITY HANDLES OUR NEED TO BE NOTICED

Exalt yourself – that’s when you need others to notice you

Humble Yourself – you notice the needs of others

“Everything they do is done for men to see: They make their phylacteries wide… they love the place of honor at banquets… and they love to have men call them ‘Rabbi.’” Matthew 23:5 - 7

“God doesn’t ask us to do great things. He asks us to do small things with great love.” - Mother Teresa

HUMILITY HANDLES OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

“Two men went to the temple to pray.” Luke 18:10

“God, thank You for all the good things you’ve given me. Thank You that I'm not like other guys, especially that tax collector over there. ” Luke 18:11

“God, be merciful to me! I'm a sinner.” Luke 18:13b

“When the two men went home it was the tax collector not the Pharisee who was pleasing to God.” Luke 18:14
