The transfiguration was demonstrating not only that Jesus is the Son of God, but it was also giving those who were there (Peter being one) a foretaste of the full glory and majesty of Jesus Christ that will be revealed when he comes again at the 2nd coming.

Three Important Things Truths About the Bible
1) The Bible IS the Word of god
The Bible does NOT contain the Word of God
The Bible does NOT become the Word of God when read or heard
Inspiration is a past event
The authority lies in the Scripture text itself and not our experience of it
2) The Bible ALONE is the supreme final authority
No-one / nothing else supersedes Scripture’s authority
Scripture rightly understood will not contradict science or some other kind of truth rightly understood
3) The Bible is WITHOUT ERROR
the Scripture comes from God and therefore is without error
