Deuteronomy 30:15-16 HCSB
Moses Example of Making Life-Shaping Choices:
choose: pick out or select (someone or something) as being the best or most appropriate of two or more alternatives.
(Hebrews 11:23-27) “By faith …”
• He refused to be defined by others.
“By faith Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter …” (Hebrews 11:24)
My resolution: I resolve to trust God and not let my life be defined by others.
• He chose short-term pain for long-term gain.
“... choosing rather to be mistreated with the people of God than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin.” (Hebrews 11:25)
My resolution: I resolve to put up with short term pain to reap long term gain.
• He chose what God values, not what culture values.
“He considered the reproach of Christ greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking to the reward.” (Hebrews 11:26)
My resolution: I resolve to do what God values, not what culture values.
• He chose to live by faith, not by fear.
“By faith he left Egypt, not being afraid of the anger of the king, for he endured as seeing him who is invisible.” (Hebrews 11:27)
My resolution: I resolve to live by faith not by fear.
