In this passage of God’s Word, we see Jesus laying out what our faith should look like. He then goes on to correct some of the “religious elitists” of that day. Through looking at this passage of God’s Word, we can see what our faith should look like, and some of the mistakes that we should avoid.
Common Mistakes that can Destroy Our Faith:
1. Only giving God our outside
Luke 11:37-41, Rom. 12:1-2, Matt. 15:7-9, 2 Tim. 3:1-5
2. Overemphasizing some parts of God’s Word, while neglecting other parts
Luke 11:42-44, 1 John 4:20, James 1:22-25, Col. 2:20-23
3. Making God’s Word burdensome
Luke 11:45-52, Matt 7:1-5, Gal. 5:22, Rom. 14:17, 15:13, Ps. 16:11

Reflection Questions
1. Have you ever been in a season of your life (or maybe you’re there now) where you felt like you have make any of these mistakes?
2. Of the 3 mistakes that the religious leaders made, which one are you most vulnerable to making in the future? Why? What could you do to stop yourself from making that mistake?
3. On a scale from 1-10, rate how on course your faith now is now. What practical step can you take to help your faith be more how Jesus described it in verses 33-36?

Groups
We believe that our faith grows best when we surround ourselves with other believers. That’s why we encourage everyone to be a part of one of our groups, where we can intentionally share our lives with one another. There will be a Sunday School group meeting on Sunday mornings before Service at 9:30 starting next Sunday. Our small groups are also in the process of starting for the fall. If you would like to be a part of one, please reach out to Pastor Josh.
